The 10 Year Anniversary of Princess Diana's Death
Posted by Mix 94.5 Friday 31 August, 2007 06:50 AM
For a lot of us it is difficult to believe, but it's 10 years to the day (August 31) since Princess Diana died tragically in Paris.
For many it was one of those "I remember where I was" moments. We want to know where you were the day you heard the people's princess had died. How did it affect you?

I was driving back from Prague to Germany (where I lived at the time), and I heard something on the radio about Diana, but I couldnt understand exactly what happened because my czech is no so good. ;) It was when I got to the border and tuned to a german station and heard that Diana was dead that I learded. at first I thought it was a hoax, couldnt believe it. Then when I got home to Frankfurt, I turned on NBC and saw the funeral that it sunk in. I cried for days. She was such a sweet, warm, kind and caring person. I couldnt understand why something like this could happen. But more than anything she was a role model for caring about others in the world that may be less fortunate than we are, and that is the legacy for which she should be remembered. JG

It's hard to believe it is 10 years ago, we lived in Esperance at the time and like everyone it was hard to comprehend that it had happened. I now have my own two daughters, and I feel even more for William and Harry growing up without a mum after the tragedy. My 4 year old daughter asked recently who she was, on my reply of "Princess Diana" she said, "Wow, she really was a real princess and she looks beautiful". It's sad to know that our next generation will grow up with only stories and photos, and not experience her beautiful presence in our world, we need more people like her especially now.

Heard the news on RAI (Italy) was living and working there at the time. Public emotion was very strong. Devasting and sad at the loss of the bellissima Diana.

I remember that Sunday morning very clearly when I heard the news on 94.5 . I was on my way to work about 8am. I couldnt believe at first but it was over the radio and TV . She was a fine woman still loved by millions. Two years ago while on holidays in Paris I witnessed people leaving flowers and lighting candles at the memorial located at the crash sight. She will be in our hearts forever

I was relaxing by the resort pool in Christmas Island when a work mate came up and told me the news. We had a few drinks for her that night.

I was at home about to go to bed and saw it on the late news. I sat up crying all night watching all the updates and hoping it wasn't real. That day changed my life and I will never forget it. Princess Diana was (is) my hero.

I was listenting to the Radio whilst relaxing with a Green Cucumber Mask on taking care not to venture too close to the window as the man next door was cleaning his roofing gutters. I really did not believe they were announcing the Princess had died. I think she had already died of a broken heart long ago. Why can't 'they' leave her alone now and let her rest in peace. I am not a royalist however, did respect her greatly.
