Is naked a state of mind?

Posted by Nat Thursday 8 May, 2008 01:22 PM

We've been astounded with the response we've had from so many beautiful people as to how they feel about their "nakedness". I know I have problem with being naked in front of anyone other than my partner, and it's amazing to hear about so many people that have the same issue.

I'm curious for your thoughts?

  • Is feeling good "naked" a state of mind thing or not?
  • Why do you think most people see themselves worse than what may necessarily be the truth?
  • Is it possible to feel good naked through changing your mindset?

Have your say on looking good naked

There is beauty in every age group. Beauty comes whawithin us. It's in the mind. We have to beleive in ourselves. I work in ladies fashion and I like to help ladies feel good for that special occasion, and make them feel good when they leave the store. I work around their body shape and what suits them

Yes feeling good naked is a state of mind and to quote Carson Kressley "When you feel like a 10 you are a 10." Of course this confidence has to come from somewhere and our culture doesn't really allow for it. Most women are too frightened to say out aloud that they look great for fear of being called vain. Some women even wear their lack of priority for themselves as a badge of honour, for example I do all these things for my kids/husband/friends, I never take the time to buy myself a decent bra or get my hair done. Also think about comments or remarks you have heard made about yourself, which ones do you hold onto? Do you remember more often the hundred times your loved ones have said how wonderful you are or do you hold onto that one negative comment that that meaningless person at school/work said perhaps decades ago. I personally do not think I have great legs but like Kelly mentioned boy am I glad to have them and that is really all that matters. Next time someone gives you a compliment smile and say thank you instead of pointing out the flaws that are only obvious to you. Highlighting your lesser attributes does nothing to show yourself in a better light and makes you a bore.

I'm with the other Michelle!! Garry Sarre Photography, is fantastic, he really knows how to make you feel like a woman, how to feel sexy and feel good in yourself. I cannot rave enough about that guy ! But my gripe on this topic - yes Nat you said we need to be fitted with a good bra. Well being a bigger boobed woman I've always gone for good quality bras and always fitted, but the past 2-3 yrs I find it very hard to find a store that does a decent job fitting me. I've spent over $400 on bras in this time and most I won't wear now (two I never wore, I couldn't they were so painful, they went straight into the good sammy bin my fault never kept the receipt). I feel the ladies who have fitted me lately either don't really know what they are doing or don't want do be doing that job and I can't say I've felt confident with my purchase, only to come home wear it for a day and never wear it again because its really doesn't fit properly. I've tried Myers, David Jones, The Bra Bar, BnT, couple of smaller stores. How can we get fitted for good bra's if there is no-one to fit us!!
Thanks for listening.

I think there is too many skinny females portrayed in magazines these days that gives off a bad image. I think more magazines should display women who are bigger and are more realistic to what size woman are these days. Bigger woman can look just as good if not better than the skinny ones. I believe you should just worry about yourself and wear things that you think look good on you. It does not matter what other people think. I also believe that no matter what your size feel good about yourself as there is far more worse off people who have a leg or arm missing or are stuck in a wheel chair. And I do not agree with these boob jobs. Do not mess with mother nature. Think of all those woman out there who lost them to cancer. So be proud of what you have. Why spend your whole life worrying about how you look. Before you know it you will be 80 years old and feel bad because you have wasted your whole life worrying about how you look . Be yourself I say.

Hi Clairsy, Nat & Shane
For the past couple of years I have been involved in a networking group for small, medium and large businesses, which meets every Friday morning for breakfast and one of the members of this group is the photographer who is doing the photo shoot for the worthy winner of your "naked on the couch" competition. I just wanted to say that as far as I'm concerned there is no one better that Garry to take these photographs. He is an absolute credit to his profession and being a lady who definitely doesn't get naked in front of anyone but her other half, I am pleased to say that the photographic session I had with Garry was fantastic.....and no I wasn't naked....only a hint of skin was showing. He is the best and his daughter is a terrific lady too. Whoever the lucky person is to win this competition will not be disappointed I am sure of that. Good luck with the competition....listening to what people have to say is really great !

I hate the thought of anyone seeing me naked, or even semi naked. When I go swimming, it's with bathers, boardies, long t-shirt and a towel within a metre of me at all times! I think with the right guidance, you can change your mindset, and learn to love it, and even flaunt it!

Nope, I don't let anyone see the goods... just not comfortable with it, and I really think that not even the TV show could change my mind

I feel just okay about it... I'm happy at home in front of my wife, but that's about it...
