Where can people meet socially?
Posted by Shane Friday 18 July, 2008 10:09 AM
On the last Big Couch PA, Helen called in to ask where Perth people in there 40's and 50's can meet each other, for social occasions such as going to the movies, going out for dinner, etc.
Hear the original call:
What do you think?
- Any pubs that you reckon would suit?
- How about a social club out there?
- Any other ideas? Sporting events, special occasions?
C'mon Big Couch listeners. Where in Perth can people catch up?

Wow, wot a blast from the past; i remember Novaks, don't know if it's still there though.Luv a Piano bar. I'd definately rate the Universal Bar, sis and i have been there a few times and have always had a ball and met some fun people. more 40 - upwards venues needed in Perth

There is only two places in Perth I feel confortable to socialise with people who are the around the same age group. Universal bar, Northbridge on Friday and Saturday night is more of a mature age group. Its a friendly group of people. Great entertainment. With a new upstairs balcony. And Ess Bar in Subiaco I feel comfortable going to places that cater for 40/50 age group. We need more places around Perth

Funny, I braved Northbridge last night and asked exactly that question, is Novak's still around? But why does it always have to be a pub or similar? Not that I mind a drink but somehow pubs give a 'desperate' feel when you're older.
