The election: Law and order

Posted by Mix 94.5 Friday 15 August, 2008 11:47 AM

With all the hoopla surrounding the forthcoming election, Ian Blackley would like to know, is law and order being given enough attention as a serious issue?

Have your say:

  • Should our politicians be focusing more on tougher sentencing for serious crimes?
  • Are we sending the right message to violent offenders?
  • Is there enough protection for our Police? Should the politicians promise more?
  • Is crime getting out of control here in Perth?
Have your say on law and order for the forthcoming election.

Not 6 weeks ago Von Carpenter was saying that the government didnt have the money for all this reform and building he is now promising - before an election (so sus). So tell us heir grumpaloitnan where you going to get the money now? I know...raise stamp duty or how about slogging us with another $50 on our rego?? I am telling you WA, dont trust these bottom dwellers they are full of S*@t and will pick your pockets soon as look at you and then take a payrise while the rest of 'real' workers pick up the tab.

I heard an election ad this morning at 8.25am on the way to school with my 5 year old, it was bagging troy buswell sniffing a seat - I dont think it is appropriate advertising, especially for that time of the morning. My son doesnt need to hear that rubbish! Guess who wont get my vote??

Let's get real people your safety is not as important as their pay rises so that they can live the rich life while the rest of us get ripped by miser ripper oldies are just that old and nothing to worry about . But I must say it would be a different drum beat if the oldie was the mother

I think every month should be an election... Only then are we getting what the politicians saving the the money for... and then we get the promises.... Have seen 2 politicians in my life . They so don't care about us in the 'sticks' why should I care about them...???? I received a letter this week from some poli... telling me how great he was and what he'd done for us.... Never heard of this guy ... ever.... Who's he kidding..... Maybe that should be the campaign '''who's he kidding???"".....pollies..!!!!

Crime is out of control here in Perth, but it has been like that for many years. It's long overdue for the Gov't to take a much tougher stand and change some of these outdated laws to reflect harsher punishments and penalties for these "one-hit" punches that end in death, or for the tossers who pick on the elderly because they're more vulnerable and easier to attack. Yeah what heroes they are !!! No-one has the right to take another person's life, but that doesn't seem to stop people does it ? And the laws that are in place at the moment don't stop people either. First time offenders and repeat offenders will just keep re-offending because they JUST CAN !!!! Whatever happened to just being able to enjoy life, leading a fairly peaceful existence and doing what you want without the fear of being attacked, robbed or beaten up !!! People say it's safer to stay at home rather than being out on the streets due to high speed chases, drunken drivers etc, but even our homes aren't the safe haven they should be with the amount home invasions that go on. I don't think that either Gov't Party can or will look at changing the laws for crime....it's just too hard !!!
