It's election time. Alan Carpenter is going for another term, whilst the liberals have re-elected Colin Barnett as their leader.
- How's it going so far? What do you think of both parties efforts?
- Is Colin Barnett the right choice for the liberals? In your opinion?
- Have you been happy with Alan Carpenter as leader of the state?
- Are you sick of the advertising yet? :)

I think that all the promises are made to get what the polies want. They are really like little children, tell lies about anything we the pepole would like to hear and have little tantrums when things don't go there way. No good promising to offer extra child care, heath care or anything where staff will be required as there is none due to the working and pay conditions. The answer is NOT "just keep bringing people in from all over the world to fill jobs" I think we need to start training people not exploiting them- A gooddays work for a good days pay and conditions that are not over the top. As far as day light saving just think how eviormentally friendly it is. If the children don't want to sleep lets remember who is the parent. If you think the sun fades your curtains we don't actually have any extra sun. Polititions start being honest.

Barnett is going to keep RPH open and build a new hospital in Murdoch as well. All our hospitals cant get enough nurses and doctors to run them now. I wanna know how that idiot Barnett plans on staffing another major hospital in Perth if he keeps RPH open??? He has also made promises to look after teachers and police officers, what about the nurses!!

When the federal government won the last election they promised to give all the states high school students a free laptop. Why has it not happened in western Australia? What is going on?

remeber voting No to daylight savings in 3 referendums only to have it sneakily introduced late at night under an independant bill that had the full vote of th e labour boys. Then to be told that since alan and his boys voted for it we had to suffer it for 3 years even though the public outcry was immense. Show Alan the door I say!

Hey Glen Watson lets bag Labour about d**khead Burke good move guess who agrees with you, bugger me that would be Carpenter. But as I watch the now not so retired what's name for the libs he will not commit to ousting Burke or Criton Brown, so on this score back who will dump the pair of a**eholes. Now for the rest of their "promises" they will all be forgotten asap after the election no matter which party gets in. This is a job to them with heaps of perks, trips all over the world, FREE and a car with fuel (who cares about fuel prices) the list is endless but at a minimum of 100k a year lets not worry about how the other half live. People should look back and see what Pauline offered with one nation, one country one nationality not a divided one, and a flat tax rate all good ideas but hammered by everyone who ran scared of the truth. Notice the first time ALP and the Libs worked together was to oust her, amazing huh, go figure.

Would like to see Minister Alannah MacTiernan become Premier she is great and talks well.
She gets things done and is much friendlier than other ministers.

Alan Carpenter is promising to extend the rail line to the far northern suburbs like Butler etc, but I would have thought this was something that would be done by whichever Party is in Gov't ...isn't that a part of Perth's infrastructure budget anyway??? Do they really need to promise something like a rail line extension to get the votes ? Colin Barnett is promising more power for Foster Parents with decisions and actions they can make regarding children they are fostering...I hope the Foster Parents are rewarded adequately for their troubles...it seems a shame they have to be "promised" these changes just because of an upcoming election. Is this the best either of these two Party Leaders can come up with for election promises? For all the issues and problems that are going on with the state, surely they could promise something more deliverable and acceptable to us all here in WA. I think the promise of NO instant pay rises to the incoming pollies of the next Gov't would be a good start. Perhaps they could promise that fuel costs, gas prices, electricty costs, shire rates, water rates and other household necessities will come down in price and stay down !!! Now there's a good election promise...and guess what...it could be done if those pollies don't get the pay rises they're renowned for getting the moment they get into Parliament !!! Anyway it's food for thought...or at least it could be extra $$ in the pocket for food for the family.

We need more personalites in politics, I'm sick of all the starch we see with dickheads who are not even close to reallity, so why not a person we can have some fun with at least then while we are being screwed again we can have a laugh for a change. Bring back Troy with a muzzle.

What happens if you like the person who is in your area, yet there is know way you would put the libs back in with any of leaders they have that just of late??? Yet the person who is in my area for Labour I did not like, because she has no idea?? At present I still prefer Lab overs Libs, maybe the lib candidit should change camps??? That would make me happier

Let's just hope the people of WA can see just what thier up for if they vote Labour again. A party that calls an election before a major CCC report into it, daming its activities with with Burke an co. If you vote Labour again, be it at your own peril, time for a change!

The same tired old boys who are only in it for the lifestyle,a hard core of faceless dropkicks who should open a furniture store with sniffwell as the head rep.The vision of Barnett is laughable.

The Independents are looking really good, of the two majors you have one party that has the economical nouse of a three year old and the other which has been eating their own since the last election and have now re-elected the leader who lost the last election??? Do we really have to vote this time?

It was refreshing to see the starch gone with Buzwell if a little over the top (sniffing seats) twanging a bra if the lady is up for that sort of muching around it's all fun lets get back to the starch which is boring and monotinous bring back the hasbeen and guarentee labour a win.

As far as I'm concerned they can have a poodle as the leader of the opposition and I will still vote for them over those cockroaches who claim to be Labor. Having said that I prefer Buswell, at least he has a personality.

Barnett, NO WAY. Troy may have been a naughty boy, in the public eye, so what.
Most boys have and had a naughty streak sometime.
TROY should stay, who else is there? For a LIB supporter I now have doubts
Posted by CK Tuesday 5 August, 2008 05:53 PM
Why can't they just make up their minds? Barnett looks, sounds and acts as an old fuddy duddy, and Buzwell got caught. At least Buzwell came across as a "real" person. I don't see how the libs can win anything while sliding back into the past.
A 'died-in-the-wool' lib
