Remember when a bargain was a bargain.. When you found the very thing you were looking for was co-incidentally ‘on special’.. You'd come home and announce your bargain with pride, "it was 250 dollars and they knocked off 40% and I couldn't say no ‘coz it's a total bargain ‘coz now we can afford to go to the movies tomorrow.." Whoo-hoo! Happy Days! Bargain!!..
It seems, however, that something has changed of late.. The bargain has lost some of its gloss.. 'finding' the bargain just doesn't seem as exciting any more, and I think it's all because of this new retail industry trend in how we 'do' the bargain.
The aforementioned scenario isn't the same when you have to explain how your 'bargain' will eventually, down the track, in due course, be a price you couldn't resist, and thus, I guess, a bargain..
Call me old-fashioned, but if it's not money saved and celebrated right there and then, it's not quite my idea of a bargain .. And call me a cynic, but what's the point, other than:
- a) they assume a certain percentage of people won't even bother sending off for small cashback amounts
- or b) is it just another data base building exercise ??
What do you make of it? Give us some Cashback Feedback...

Cash Back - what about the silly buy 2 save $1.00 - I don't want two packets crisps, two chocolates for kids treat. I want to buy one when on special not two or three and save $1.00. Not helpful to diet and not helpful to fill up cupboard uselessly

The best cash back on anything you can get is to watch/scruitinise your shopping docket at the end of the shopping trip. Double check your prices and go back to the shop if you find something you dissagree with. I take a shopping list and write all prices down. Because I scan my shopping , I check the prices. When I find I have been charged too much or even frequently charged twice, I go back with my shopping list and I complain. Often receiving just the money I am entitled to, but sometimes the complete refund of the item money. People should not sit back and accept being overcharged.

I work in retail and in regards to cash backs, it has nothing to do with the bargain or prices of stock at where I work.
Cash backs are set by the individual company (eg: Toshiba, samsung, etc) and doesn't actually affect the store or the bargaining power what-so-ever.
On that same note, people also need to realise, theres not as much margin in high priced items as people expect, items are normally increased by cost + 15%, not this +40 or more that people think.

Just call me the Cash Back queen, I have purchased a number of items with the cashback offer, and I tell you it certainly is the best, just post it in and hey presto, money in your mail box, don't have to fight the crowds for the bargain. CASH BACK ALL THE WAY I SAY

I figure a cash back is better than nothing...but I can't go past a good deal either. I will spread the word on a good deal and send friends or at least go back to the same shop
